I haven’t had a landline for four years and I run a home-based business. So am I unique? Well, for my age group I am, but according to a survey by the National Center for Health Statistics, I am pretty normal.

For the first time ever, 45.4% of households were wireless-only. Only 8.4% households are landline only and another 3.2% have no telephone. But the study really reveals that the landline is doomed with the younger generation. Wireless-only households:

Aged 18 to 24: 58.0%
Aged 25 to 29: 69.2%
Aged 30 to 34: 67.4%
Aged 35 to 44: 53.7%
Aged 45 to 64: 36.8%
Aged 65-plus: 17.1%

It is also why mobile advertising is a growth industry. Thanks American Consumers Newsletter for some more interesting insights.
