According to a recent story in Ad Age, get ready for video ads in your news feed. Facebook is set to unveil in April a new video ad product. It will offer you the opportunity to target video ads to large numbers of Facebook users on both the desktop version of Facebook as well as on Facebook apps on mobile phones and tablets. Facebook video ads will start playing automatically – it’s called “autoplay” – and that could prove annoying to many. Facebook is still debating whether to have the audio activated automatically.

This move by Facebook shows the growing power of online video. In fact, if you are thinking of using banner ads in 2013, you should be looking at using video in them. Want to test this concept? I am currently developing a low-cost cooperative online video campaign for Southern Oregon travel attractions and destination marketing organizations (DMOs) that will target the greater Portland and Eugene markets this Spring. Space is limited, so if you would like to learn more about online video, email (Mark@dennettgroup.com) or give me a call 541-488-4925.
