I am often asked during my marketing workshops how to generate positive stories in the media. I always say that the first step to great public relations is taking advantage of real news with creative flair. Today I read a wonderful (front page) story about owls living at the Rogue Valley Manor, Southern Oregon’s only continuing care retirement community (CCRC).

This “soft news” story became a solid PR event because of the quality of the quotes made by Brian McLemore, CEO of Pacific Retirement Services, the Manor’s parent company. A former client, it was great to see that Brian hasn’t lost his marketing touch. His light-hearted quotes not only shared the brand advantages of Manor living, but it revealed the fun personality of the Manor. Brilliant. Here’s a link to the story.
